Heritage Bus in Putney

Last Saturday, the 1st of October, we noticed old London Double Decker Buses regularly passing our office window. Were we time traveling or had London Transport reverted to running some old stock that they had found?

It was all very nostalgic for anyone who remembered the old RT buses, with an open platform at the rear, and best of all a conductor who took your money and gave you a ticket, and often regaling the passengers with friendly banter.

In fact, it was all organised by the London Bus Museum with a range of buses dating from 1949 to 1954 and using route 37 Putney Heath to Peckham, all passengers travelled for free!

A trip down to Brooklands Museum where the London Bus Museum forms part of this fascinating venue is a great day out for all the family; www.brooklandsmuseum.com; and for info on the Bus Museum; www.londonbusmuseum.com
