London has many quaint and historic parts to it, one that is absolutely fascinating is a property once the home of Charles Dickens, and there is a plaque on the wall to say so.
That would be enough for it to have interest, but for current day what lies inside is even more fascinating, for you will find a remnant of an almost disappeared London. Taylors Button shop was founded by the eponymous Mr Taylor over a hundred years ago, his son sold the business to the late Mr Rose; his wife, Maurine Rose, now owns and runs it.
It is the only independent button shop in Central London. Some are antique, many new, but hard to find anywhere else. A considerable trade is from theatrical, stage and movie costumer makers. As well as wedding dresses and even people wanting something more special than buttons that are on new suits.
As for the Union Jack buttons, you won’t find them anywhere else; so for that extra patriotic touch on your waistcoat get along to see Mrs Rose now! 22 Cleveland Street London W1T 4JB Telephone: 020 7436 9988
