St Margaret’s Church on Putney Park Lane is holding a Community Lunch every Thursday.
The event is aimed particularly at the elderly but anyone is welcome to come along. The meal is provided for free between 12.30pm and 2pm. It will provide a chance to meet new people and enjoy some homemade soup, sandwiches and freshly baked cakes.
At the start of the pandemic, St Margaret’s offered help with shopping, prescription collection and more and had an army of volunteers who helped it help people in the community. At the same time the church started a Soup and Cake run every Thursday, with soup and freshly baked cakes made by volunteers.
At the height of the pandemic it was delivering to the housebound and those isolating and, on average, delivered soup and cake to around 115 people every Thursday. It continued to do this until Easter 2021.
Due to the pandemic people now do not have the same opportunity to go out and meet new people, hence the reason for starting the community lunch.
If you would like to volunteer to help at the lunch contact Helen at St Margaret’s on 020 8789 5932 firstname.lastname@example.org or for any further information.
